The road goes ever on and on...

Okay, I have become even MORE turned off by fast food. Last week I read about this documentary called Super Size Me, where the filmmaker investigates the power of the fast food industry in America, and also goes on a "McDonald's" diet, in which he eats ONLY McD food for a month. Before starting, he was deemed to be healthy, but by the third week, he already needed to go to the hospital for health problems.

It's rather sad how obesity and 'overweightness' has been able to reach such epidemical proportions, while there are still many third world nations with people starving to death every day. Now, I'm not accusing every overweight person of being gluttinous or anything, as I know how some people really struggle to keep their weight down and it's not easy; it's just a shame how we're in a society where SO MANY people can become overweight so easily.

Though I'd really like to know what the bigshots at McDonald's have to say about the dietary problems displayed in Super Size Me. Maybe they'll expand their 'healthy Adult Happy Meals'? Meh, either way, I'm not gonna buy that stuff.

I recently found out about the Spider-Girl comic book series, and it sounds really cool. When I get the time, I'm gonna buy some copies. Anyway, it's a spin-off series about Peter Parker's teenage daughter, May, who has inherited her father's super powers (who, in the timeframe of the series, is retired and doesn't do superhero stuff anymore) and decides to follow in her father's footsteps. BUT, living up to Spider-man's legacy isn't easy, especially when there's also school, friends, and other adolescent issues to worry about.

The series has gotten many good reviews and is particularly popular among female comic-book readers, because, unlike most other comic books out there, Spider-Girl is capable of handling adventures alone (as opposed to depending on teamwork), she sure as hell isn't one of those damsels in distress who always need a man to save them, and she's more realistically "proportioned" (you know how many of those testosterone-driven comics are; the women are always drawn with the biggest hooters imaginable).

However, it seems that the series has also been repeatedly threatened with cancellation due to a too-small fanbase. Though I do recall reading in an article a few weeks ago that the writers were aware of the likeliness of cancellation. Also, an interesting tidbit is that one of the writers modeled Spider-Girl after his niece, and is very insistent that they don't change her appearance (e.g. into the typical female comic character).

Anywho, this series looks really cool, and I'm certainly looking forward to reading some (or a few dozen, or heck, maybe even ALL) of the issues! ~_^

OK, it's official: I LOVE zombie movies!!! I saw Dawn of the Dead earlier today, and oh man, talk about exciting! I should get around to renting the original version of Dawn of the Dead, along with Night of the Living Dead and Day of the Dead. I don't know what it is about zombie lore that I find so fascinating; maybe the adrenaline rush I get while watching such films? lol ~_^
