The road goes ever on and on...

I'm one of those people who hardly ever get scared by ghost stories, but there's this urban legend I read on a website that really gave me the creeps. It's called "The Message Under The Stamp", and it is said that it's one of the oldest urban legends, circulating throughout every war since the Civil War. It was also especially popular during the Vietnam War. If you want to read it, here it is:

The Message Under The Stamp

During the war a soldier faithfully wrote his mother every week so she would know he was all right, until one week she didn't get a letter and immediately began to worry. Within a couple of weeks she got a letter from the Army saying that her son had been captured and was being held in a Prisoner-of-War camp, and they assured her that they had no reason to believe the American prisoners were being mistreated in any way. A few weeks later the woman finally received another letter from her son, it read: "Dear Mom, Try not to worry about me, they are treating us well and I'll be released as soon as the war is over. Make sure that little Teddy gets the stamp for his collection. Love you, Joe" The woman was overjoyed to hear the news, but was confused because she had no idea who "little Teddy" was. She decided to steam the stamp from the envelope and have a look. When she did she saw that written on the back of the stamp were the words: "They've cut off my legs".

Alright, listen up and write this down: The Yahoo message boards are where idiots come to gather.

Why do I say this? If you take a look at all the garbage that’s being said at the boards related to the current news, you’ll see what I mean. That place is full of jerks who care only about themselves; feel no pity for people who are starving, suffering, dying, etc etc etc; they say the most inappropriate things at all times; they advertise their mentality of hate, ignorance, apathy and just plain stupidity; so on and so forth.

I really have to stop taking peeks at what’s going on in those boards; not only do I get very angry at some of the comments the lamewads say, I also become more and more convinced that humanity is bad by nature.

For instance, yesterday, someone posted a message commenting on how many Americans are so wasteful of food and don’t give a damn if there are millions of others across the world who are starving to death. Some jerk replied to the message, saying that it’s not their problem that third-world farmers supposedly ‘don’t work as hard as American farmers’ and don’t ‘choose more appropriate farmland to cultivate’, and basically expressing the ‘who cares’ and ‘tough luck, that’s life’ attitude (he really did say ‘That’s life’, regarding starving people). I don’t know where to start: how can the latter be such an insensitive ASSHOLE??? I can’t believe that he thinks that people are starving because of ‘laziness’! Many people in third world countries work more than ten times as hard as some of us Westerners, and yet they can barely feed their children and have proper shelter. Man, if that guy was in front of me and said what he posted at the boards, I’d deck him.

There are also a bunch of other losers who are unbelievably bloodthirsty. In response to a news article about the accidental bombing of a wedding in Afghanistan, some jerks said things like, ‘Good. We just have to kill about 3,000 more, and we’ll be even.’ Okay, WHAT are these scumballs thinking. Do they think that the people in Afghanistan had an election or something about whether the 19 terrorists should attack the U.S.? Do they think that they had ANY SAY AT ALL about whether the September 11 attacks should happen? So WHY THE HELL would killing innocent Afghans be the right way of evening the score???!!! There is so little sympathy for human life in some nimrods.

You know, I’ve really got to stop reading messages on the Yahoo boards, but at this point I’m already aware of the insensitivity of a surprisingly large amount of people. Some humans suck, big time. >:(

Hey, I just found out that Bon Jovi is releasing a new album tomorrow! Whoa, how come I only found out just now? Oh whatever, I’ll probably go buy it sometime this week. Maybe I’ll download a couple of songs to see if I really want to buy the album (hehe, which is kinda ironic, because Jon Bon Jovi is opposed to free downloads due to the entire ‘it affects album sales’ thing). But why the hell is it called ‘Bounce’?! Sounds like it was inspired by a room full of dodgeballs bouncing around.

I also like that new song by Nick Carter, ‘Help Me’. It’s got a nice pop-rock style that I like. That goodness he doesn’t sing any of the stuff Aaron does. Ugh, I can’t stand Aaron Carter. Okay, some of his songs are alright, but I dunno, he acts like he’s all that. Whatever.
